MikroTik netPower 15FR – Outdoor PoE over Fiber Switch for SMB & Industrial Networks
MikroTik netPower 15FR is an outdoor switch with 15 reverse PoE ports and two SFP ports, designed as a cost-effective alternative to GPON base stations for ISPs delivering internet to individual apartments. It is part of the GPEN concept — bringing the speed and versatility of fiber networking through Ethernet infrastructure, without the cost of passive optical equipment and GPON splitters.
The 15 reverse PoE ports eliminate the need for a separate power supply in attics, utility rooms, or electrical cabinets — the switch draws power directly from connected clients via passive PoE, operating from as little as a single client connection. Ethernet port 15 can in turn power other PoE-capable devices at the same voltage applied to the unit. Non-blocking throughput of 3.6 Gbps and switching capacity of 7.2 Gbps cover bandwidth requirements for dense residential distribution. Two SFP ports provide fiber uplink connectivity to the aggregation node.
netPower 15FR installs in challenging outdoor environments — damp attics, elevator shafts, poles, and technical enclosures — through its IP54-rated enclosure resistant to dust and moisture, with support for hose clamp pole mounting. Dual boot between RouterOS license level 5 and SwOS provides flexibility between advanced managed switching and simplified configuration. Passive cooling eliminates moving components, reducing maintenance requirements in hard-to-access installations.
Recommended for ISPs distributing internet in residential buildings without existing GPON infrastructure, installations in technical spaces without available power supply, last-mile Ethernet access networks, and any scenario where per-subscriber deployment cost must be minimized without sacrificing connection speed or reliability. The power supply is not included and must be purchased separately.
