MikroTik GPON ONU – SFP Network Adapter for GPON Fiber Networks

The MikroTik GPON ONU module is a plug-and-play SFP module that turns any RouterBOARD device with an SFP port into a GPON fiber terminal for Fiber to Home, FTTx, and wireless backhaul installations — without a separate GPON modem, without special software, and without any configuration required on the customer side. The module plugs directly into the router's SFP port, with all configuration handled by the ISP through the standard OMCI protocol.

The module integrates the GPON OMCI stack and is fully compliant with the ITU-T G.984 standard — the international GPON specification that guarantees interoperability with the ISP's OLT equipment. Asymmetric speeds of 1244 Mbps upstream and 2488 Mbps downstream cover typical requirements for residential and business fiber installations. The standard MSA SFP form factor is compatible with all MikroTik products featuring an SFP port, across any RouterOS version — without version or model restrictions.

The simplex SC UPC connector and standard MSA SFP form factor ensure compatibility with operators' existing GPON fiber infrastructure without adapters or special cables. The plug-and-play approach eliminates a dedicated technician visit for modem configuration at the customer site — the ISP fully manages ONU parameters through OMCI remotely after the module is physically connected.
