MikroTik RB493G RouterBOARD with 9x Gigabit for SMB Networks
MikroTik RB493G is a RouterBOARD with nine Gigabit Ethernet ports and three miniPCI slots, designed for high port-density network nodes — perimeter routers, multi-sector wireless aggregation points, and ISP infrastructures where wired and wireless connectivity must be managed from a single platform. The RouterOS L5 license covers advanced routing, VPN, and traffic management scenarios.
The nine Gigabit ports are served by two independent switch chips, enabling two separate switch groups configured for wire-speed throughput — relevant for traffic segmentation between clients, uplinks, and management networks without performance penalties. The AR7161 processor at 680 MHz with 256 MB RAM provides the processing capacity for simultaneous routing across multiple wireless and Ethernet interfaces. Three miniPCI slots allow adding radio cards for multi-sector or multi-band AP configurations.
RB493G runs RouterOS L5 with support for advanced routing, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, hotspot, VPN, and firewall. The USB 2.0 port allows connecting a 3G modem for backup connectivity at sites without a redundant fixed link, while the microSD slot extends storage for logging and configurations. Passive PoE input (8–28 V) or DC jack and the RS232 serial console port complete the installation and management options for remote locations.
Recommended for aggregation nodes in ISP networks with high port-count requirements, perimeter routers with sector wireless interfaces, outdoor installations in sealed enclosures where port density and miniPCI expandability are critical, and remote sites where a USB backup modem eliminates single-path connectivity dependency. An MTBF of 200,000 hours and tested operating temperature from -40°C to +70°C confirm reliability under permanent operating conditions.
