MikroTik RB411U RouterBOARD for SMB Wireless Deployments

MikroTik RB411U is a compact RouterBOARD with a miniPCI slot, miniPCI-e slot, and USB 2.0 port, designed for versatile outdoor deployments — wireless router, mobile 3G router, or hybrid WiFi and cellular connectivity in a single small-form-factor unit. The integrated SIM slot and dedicated miniPCI-e slot for 3G cards make it the right choice for locations without fixed internet access.

The RB411U connectivity architecture covers three independent paths simultaneously: an 802.11 radio card via miniPCI for WiFi, a 3G card via miniPCI-e with an onboard SIM slot for cellular connectivity, and a secondary USB modem via the USB port — uncommon flexibility at this form factor and price point. The AR7161 processor at 300 MHz with 32 MB RAM handles routing between these interfaces, including automatic failover scenarios between WiFi and 3G. Mounting holes compatible with the RB411 series allow direct installation into any supported outdoor enclosure or antenna.

RB411U runs RouterOS L4 with support for routing, bridging, firewall, hotspot, VPN, and bandwidth management. The RS232 serial console port enables out-of-band access in locations without active management connectivity, while Passive PoE input (10–28 V) or DC jack simplifies installation at isolated sites. RouterOS manages the wireless interface, 3G connection, and routing between them simultaneously without additional hardware configuration.

Recommended for outdoor wireless routers with integrated 3G backup, mobile installations where cellular connectivity is the primary internet path, access points in locations without fiber or cable, and IoT or SCADA projects where compact size and multiple connectivity options are critical. Tested operating temperature from -30°C to +70°C and an MTBF of 100,000 hours confirm reliability under permanent outdoor operating conditions.
