MikroTik KNOT Gateway LR8 – Industrial IoT Gateway with LoRa

An industrial LoRa IoT gateway collects data from meters, sensors, and tagged assets across large areas without running cable to every measurement point. MikroTik KNOT Gateway LR8 addresses this in an IP66 enclosure, combining 868 MHz LoRa®, BLE 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, LTE Cat 1 bis, and GNSS. It is designed for warehouses, logistics terminals, and utility networks where asset monitoring and remote meter reading must run continuously. The 868 MHz LoRa band and supported LTE bands match European deployments.

A dual-core ARM64 IPQ-5010 processor at 800 MHz, with 256 MB of RAM and 128 MB of NAND storage, filters and processes data directly on the gateway, reducing traffic to your servers. The IP66 enclosure with passive cooling operates from -40°C to 50°C, allowing installation on poles, building exteriors, or in unheated technical rooms. Power via 802.3af/at PoE-in or a 12–57 V DC input with surge protection, combined with a maximum draw of 9 W, makes deployment possible far from core infrastructure. Integrated antennas for LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE, and GNSS simplify mounting, while external antenna connectors for BLE and sub-GHz extend coverage where the site requires it.

Over 868 MHz LoRa®, the gateway connects sensors and meters located beyond Bluetooth range, while BLE 5.1 turns tag broadcasts into usable asset tracking data. Backhaul runs over Gigabit Ethernet, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, or LTE Cat 1 bis with a nano SIM slot and eSIM support. MikroTik Connectivity activates mobile data through a MikroTik account, with preloaded eSIM profiles, multi-operator switching, and backup access for remote management. RouterOS v7 (level 4 license) provides local filtering, custom logic through scripts, and publishing over MQTT or HTTP to the IoT platform your organization uses.

KNOT Gateway LR8 meets the needs of utility operators, logistics companies, warehouse managers, and IoT integrators building monitoring systems at scale. In utility networks, the gateway gathers data from remote meters and forwards it over LTE where no fixed connection exists. In warehouses and terminals, BLE 5.1 follows tagged pallets, containers, and tools through the entire operational flow, while GNSS provides positioning for gateways spread across dispersed sites.
