MikroTik KNOT LR8 Kit IoT Gateway – Industrial Connectivity for IoT Networks
The MikroTik KNOT LR8 kit is an industrial IoT gateway for LoRa® networks, designed for remote monitoring, asset tracking, and automation across distributed infrastructure. It is widely deployed in smart city, precision agriculture, logistics, and industrial manufacturing projects — wherever low-cost, long-range connectivity is essential. The device consolidates LoRa® 863-870 MHz, CAT-M/NB-IoT, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi into a single compact platform, ready to deploy out of the box.
The gateway features a CAT-M/NB-IoT modem and supports 8 simultaneous LoRa® channels with Listen Before Talk and spectral scan capabilities. The hardware platform includes a QCA9531 processor at 650 MHz and 64 MB RAM, delivering stable performance for IoT data collection and routing. Bluetooth 5.2 enables asset tracking via BLE tags, while dual 10/100 Ethernet ports with PoE-in and PoE-out provide flexible integration into existing installations and power delivery to adjacent devices.
The KNOT LR8 kit operates as a primary LoRa® gateway with Ethernet backhaul or autonomously via CAT-M/NB-IoT as a backup or remote management channel. It is compatible with any public or private LoRa® server — including The Things Network and ChirpStack — through a pre-installed UDP packet forwarder. Managed via RouterOS v7, it supports MQTT, HTTPS, VPN, and Modbus-TCP for hybrid scenarios and distributed infrastructure deployments.
It is recommended for sensor monitoring in cold chain and warehouse environments, Bluetooth tag-based asset tracking in hospitals and industrial facilities, agricultural data collection in remote fields without fixed infrastructure, and centralized management of vending machines or distributed technical installations. DIN rail mounting and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C confirm suitability for outdoor cabinets and demanding industrial environments.
