MikroTik CRS504-4XQ-IN Switch – High-Performance Enterprise Network Switch
The MikroTik CRS504-4XQ-IN is a switch with 4 x 100 Gigabit QSFP28 ports, designed as the entry point into 100G networking for offices, research laboratories, and infrastructures transitioning from 10G or 25G to 100 Gigabit speeds. It is widely used as an aggregation switch or uplink node in networks where the CRS504 connects to 100G routers such as the CCR2216, and as a central node in distribution topologies where QSFP28 breakout cables allow connecting up to 16 x 25G devices from a single port. Its compact dimensions, power consumption of just 25W without attachments, and multiple powering options make it accessible beyond traditional data center environments.
The switch is built on the Marvell DX4310 chip with a QCA9531 processor at 650 MHz and 64 MB RAM, managed via RouterOS v7 (License Level 5). The four QSFP28 ports support 100G natively or — via breakout cables — up to 16 simultaneous 25G interfaces. Configuration flexibility allows mixing speeds across independent ports: 100G, 40G, 4x25G, 10G, or 1G on the same device. Power redundancy is provided through 5 independent sources: 2 hot-swap AC power supplies in dedicated slots, DC jack, 2-pin terminal, and 802.3bt PoE-in — with wall mounting support as an alternative to rack installation.
The CRS504-4XQ-IN integrates into high-speed network infrastructures as a 100G aggregation switch, uplink node to CCR2216, or distribution switch in breakout 25G topologies. The 10/100 management Ethernet port and RJ45 console provide direct access for configuration and troubleshooting independent of the production network. PCB temperature monitoring and dual fans ensure stable operation in high-density rack environments.
It is recommended for offices and laboratories taking their first step into 100G networking, research and medical infrastructures where fast transfer of large data volumes — genomics, medical imaging, distributed storage — is an operational requirement, existing 10G/25G networks needing a compact and energy-efficient 100G aggregation switch, and any environment where QSFP28 breakout cables enable connecting existing 25G equipment to a 100G backbone without infrastructure replacement. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C and CE certifications confirm suitability for indoor technical environments.
