MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN Router – High-Performance Router for SMB & Enterprise Networks
The MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN is a high-performance router with PoE-in and PoE-out on all 8 Ethernet ports, designed for small and medium ISPs, server room environments, and distributed infrastructures where power redundancy and PoE port density are critical operational requirements. It is widely used as a primary router with full RouterOS v7 functionality, a PoE distribution node for powering active field equipment, and a core gateway in ISP topologies where service continuity must be maintained regardless of power source status. Ten independent powering options and a total PoE-out budget of 130W position it as a compact alternative to dedicated PoE switches.
The router is built on a quad-core ARM64 88F7040 running at up to 1400 MHz with 1 GB RAM and 1 GB NAND storage, managed via RouterOS v7 (License Level 5). Connectivity includes 7 Gigabit Ethernet ports with 802.3af/at PoE-in and PoE-out, 1 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE-in and PoE-out, 1 x 10G SFP+ port, and USB 3.0 Type-A with USB Power Reset. Each PoE-out port delivers up to 25W with a combined total output of 130W. The power system automatically selects the highest-voltage source among DC jack, 2-pin terminal, and PoE-in, with automatic fallback to the next highest voltage source — the router remains operational even if 9 of its 10 power sources fail simultaneously.
The RB5009UPr+S+IN integrates into complex infrastructures as a core or edge router with integrated PoE distribution, supporting PPPoE termination, DHCP, MPLS, VPLS, VPN, advanced firewall, and hardware offloading through RouterOS v7. CPU and PCB temperature monitoring alongside current and voltage monitoring provide complete operational visibility. The compact form factor allows mounting of four units in a single 1U rack space — exceptional equipment density for server rooms or ISP installations where space is limited.
It is recommended for small and medium ISPs requiring a robust router with PoE-out on all ports and maximum power redundancy, distribution infrastructures where the router must simultaneously power switches, access points, and other active equipment, server rooms where the 4-unit per 1U density significantly reduces occupied rack space, and any critical installation where service continuity through automatic failover between independent power sources is a mandatory requirement. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +60°C and CE certifications confirm suitability for indoor technical environments with high availability requirements.
