The MikroTik MTCTCE — Certified Traffic Control Engineer is a two-day professional certification course for network engineers and technicians managing quality of service and traffic control in RouterOS infrastructures. The MTCTCE course covers QoS, Firewall, NAT, Mangle and Queue mechanisms — building the skills required to shape and prioritize traffic in corporate and ISP networks with demanding performance requirements.
Course agenda covers the following modules:
Module 1 — Packet Flow Diagram: you will understand the complete packet path through RouterOS — routing, bridging and router connection — and apply the flow diagram in real-world scenarios for traffic diagnostics and network behavior optimization.
Module 2 — Firewall Filter, NAT, Mangle: you will implement filter rules on default and custom chains, configure NAT with all available actions and NAT helpers, and apply Mangle for traffic marking and classification — including advanced conditions from the "advanced" and "extra" tabs — plus UPnP configuration.
Module 3 — Quality of Service: you will configure HTB (Hierarchical Token Bucket) with Queue Tree, dual limitation, priorities and burst, implement FIFO, SFQ, RED and PCQ queue types, and manage Simple Queue and Queue Tree interaction — granular bandwidth control per client or service.
Module 4 — DNS Client and Cache: you will configure the DNS client in RouterOS, create static DNS entries and leverage local DNS caching to reduce latency and optimize name resolution across the network.
Module 5 — DHCP Client, Relay and Server: you will analyze the DHCP exchange process, configure a DHCP server with networks, built-in and custom options, IP Pool and advanced settings, and implement DHCP Relay for address distribution across segmented networks with multiple VLANs or locations.
Module 6 — Web Proxy: you will configure a transparent proxy in RouterOS with access lists, direct access lists, cache lists and regular expressions — a practical solution for web content control and bandwidth optimization in multi-user network environments.
Entry requirements: MTCTCE is an advanced MikroTik course requiring a valid MTCNA certification as a mandatory prerequisite. Duration: 2 days, intensive format with hands-on lab sessions included in every module.
Upon completion, participants receive the official MikroTik MTCTCE certification and the practical ability to design and implement comprehensive QoS policies, traffic shaping and access control in RouterOS networks. Ideal for network engineers, ISP administrators and IT specialists managing high-traffic environments with strict requirements for prioritizing business-critical services.
Important: Enrollment requires a valid MTCNA certification.
