The MikroTik MTCRE — Certified Routing Engineer is a two-day professional certification course for network engineers and technicians planning, implementing and debugging complex routed network configurations in RouterOS. The MTCRE course deepens expertise in advanced static routing, VPN tunnel types, VLAN technologies and the OSPF dynamic routing protocol — essential competencies for building robust and scalable IP networks in corporate and ISP environments.
Course agenda covers the following modules:
Module 1 — Advanced Static Routing: you will configure more specific routes, ECMP for load balancing, gateway forced over a specific interface, gateway reachability check with route distance, and implement routing mark with route policy and recursive next-hop with scope/target-scope — granular traffic control for networks with complex topologies.
Module 2 — Point-to-Point Addressing: you will configure point-to-point addressing in RouterOS — the necessary foundation for correct tunnel implementation and dedicated connections between network nodes.
Module 3 — VPN and VLAN: you will implement Site-to-Site connectivity via IPIP, EoIP, PPTP, SSTP, L2TP and PPPoE tunnels, configure VLAN with managed switch and switch chip on RouterBOARD, and implement QinQ (802.1Q stacked) — solutions for secure segmentation and interconnection of distributed networks.
Module 4 — OSPF: you will master OSPF protocol operation — Hello protocol, database distribution and LSA types, area structure and router types, DR and BDR election, interface types and cost, SPT algorithm, Stub and NSSA with route aggregation, virtual links and routing filters — the dynamic routing protocol essential for scalable enterprise and ISP networks.
Entry requirements: MTCRE is an advanced MikroTik course requiring a valid MTCNA certification as a mandatory prerequisite. Duration: 2 days, intensive format with hands-on lab sessions included in every module.
Upon completion, participants receive the official MikroTik MTCRE certification and the practical ability to plan, implement and troubleshoot statically and dynamically routed networks in RouterOS. MTCRE is also the mandatory prerequisite for the MTCINE course (BGP, MPLS, Traffic Engineering). Ideal for network engineers, ISP administrators and IT specialists managing infrastructures with complex routing, redundancy and advanced network segmentation requirements.
Important: Enrollment requires a valid MTCNA certification.
