The Teltonika TRB256 is an industrial NB-IoT / LTE Cat M1 gateway designed for low-power M2M and IoT applications requiring extended coverage. Support for the 450 MHz frequency band delivers superior LTE signal penetration compared to standard frequencies — making it the optimal choice for remote sites, rural areas, and underground infrastructure. Dual SIM with automatic failover, RS232 and RS485 serial interfaces, extended I/Os, and an integrated GNSS module provide a complete connectivity solution for telemetry, smart metering, and remote automation.
Running RutOS (OpenWrt-based), the TRB256 supports a comprehensive set of industrial protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet RS485/TCP, OPC UA, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, and Serial over IP. Multi-protocol VPN (OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, ZeroTier, L2TP, PPTP, GRE, DMVPN, SSTP, Tinc) and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP) deliver enterprise-grade secure connectivity. Native integration with Azure IoT Hub, AWS IoT Core, ThingWorx, and Cumulocity enables rapid deployment in cloud IoT architectures.
The GNSS module (GPS, with GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo/QZSS under development) supports geofencing, TAVL tracking, NMEA 0183, and NTRIP protocol. All I/Os are accessible via a compact 16-pin industrial terminal block — 3× configurable digital inputs, 1× analog input (0–30 V), and 3× open collector digital outputs. The slim aluminium housing (83 × 25 × 74 mm, 165 g) with IP30 protection and an operating range of -40°C to +75°C is built for DIN rail installation in industrial enclosures.
