MikroTik wAP LR2 kit IoT Gateway – Industrial & IoT Connectivity

The MikroTik wAP LR2 kit is a ready-to-deploy outdoor LoRa® gateway operating at 2.4 GHz, housed in a compact IP54-rated weatherproof enclosure built on the proven wAP form factor. Unlike conventional LoRa® gateways on 868/915 MHz, the wAP LR2 kit works exclusively at 2.4 GHz — delivering higher bandwidth, faster data rates, and reduced air time per packet. Chirp Spread Spectrum modulation ensures zero interference with the concurrent 2.4 GHz WLAN radio, making it a practical choice for high-density industrial IoT deployments where both sensor networks and wireless access operate simultaneously.

The hardware is built around the QCA9531 processor at 650 MHz with 64MB RAM and a pre-installed R11e-LR2 concentrator card in the miniPCIe slot, configured out of the box with a UDP packet forwarder compatible with any public or private LoRa® server including The Things Network. The integrated dual antenna provides 2 dBi for WLAN and 4.7 dBi for LoRa®; for extended coverage up to 3–4 km line-of-sight, the TOF-2400-8V-4 external omni antenna connects via the onboard SMA port. Tested from -40°C to +60°C, the enclosure handles permanent outdoor installation without compromise.

Three power inputs — passive PoE, DC jack, and automotive 9–30V — allow mounting on poles, building facades, or vehicles without a separate power supply. The 10/100 Ethernet port serves as the backend uplink for collected LoRa® traffic, while the miniPCIe slot can be reconfigured with an LTE modem if cellular backhaul is required in place of the LoRa® card. The device runs RouterOS License 4, integrating into existing MikroTik infrastructure with familiar management tools.
