MikroTik wAP ac Access Point – High-Performance WiFi for SOHO & SMB
The MikroTik wAP ac is a compact dual-band wireless access point in an IP54-rated weatherproof enclosure, built for outdoor and semi-exposed installations where indoor equipment is not an option. Driven by a quad-core IPQ-4018 processor with concurrent 2.4 and 5 GHz AC1200 coverage, it delivers stable wireless connectivity for mobile devices in gardens, on porches, at building entrances, and anywhere else indoor access points cannot reach. It is commonly deployed as an outdoor dual-band access point for residential and small office use, a weatherproof Wi-Fi solution for commercial outdoor seating areas, and a low-profile wireless node for facade and exterior wall mounting.
The quad-core IPQ-4018 with automatic frequency scaling between 488 and 896 MHz and 128 MB RAM handles concurrent dual-band traffic without performance degradation. The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 radio at 300 Mbps maintains backward compatibility with older network devices, while the 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 radio at 867 Mbps serves modern smartphones, tablets, and laptops on a less congested spectrum. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports add flexibility for daisy-chain deployments or network segmentation without an additional switch, and 802.3af/at PoE-in eliminates the need for a separate power cable at the mounting point.
The enclosure design routes the Ethernet cable through the back of the unit directly into the wall, leaving no visible cabling on the exterior surface — the wAP ac integrates unobtrusively into any facade or outdoor structure. Mounting screws are concealed inside the case, and the bottom cover can be secured with an anti-vandal screw for additional protection in public or unsupervised locations. Tested from -40°C to +70°C, the unit operates reliably year-round without seasonal maintenance. It runs RouterOS License 4 with full wireless management, VLAN support, and access control policy capabilities.
The wAP ac is the right choice for extending wireless coverage to residential gardens, courtyards, and terraces beyond the reach of indoor routers, for commercial and office building entrances and waiting areas requiring outdoor Wi-Fi, for hotels and guesthouses with exterior guest spaces, for warehouses and light industrial environments with wide temperature variation, and for any installation where visual discretion and environmental resilience are as important as wireless performance.
