MikroTik LHG XL 2 – Long-Range Point-to-Point Wireless Bridge for SMB Networks
The MikroTik LHG XL 2 is a 2.4 GHz integrated grid antenna with 21 dBi gain and a dual-chain Wireless N transmitter, built for long-distance point-to-point links and CPE deployments where 2.4 GHz signal penetration and high antenna gain take priority over peak throughput. The antenna element integrated directly into the wireless unit eliminates cable losses, while the compact and lightweight grid design reduces wind load and simplifies installation compared to solid parabolic dishes of equivalent gain.
The 21 dBi gain on the 2.4 GHz band combines long-distance coverage with superior penetration through obstacles compared to the 5 GHz band — a direct advantage for CPE installations in rural, semi-urban, or heavily vegetated environments where 5 GHz signals would be insufficient. The dual-chain 802.11b/g/n transmitter delivers data rates up to 300 Mbps with broad compatibility for mixed client devices. The QCA9533 CPU at 650 MHz and 64 MB RAM run the factory-activated RouterOS Level 3 license for routing and bridging configurations.
At Ø550x245mm and just 5W power consumption, the LHG XL 2 is one of the most efficient long-distance 2.4 GHz CPE solutions in terms of gain-to-power ratio. The dual polarization of the integrated element optimizes link quality without installation losses. The included package — PoE injector, 24V power adapter, and K-LHG mounting kit — covers a complete pole installation without additional purchases. The tested operating range of -40°C to +70°C confirms continuous operation in extreme climatic conditions.
It is the right fit for ISPs installing long-distance 2.4 GHz CPE in areas with physical obstructions or vegetation where signal penetration is critical, for point-to-point links where 21 dBi on 2.4 GHz delivers the required signal level where 5 GHz cannot reach, for networks with mixed 802.11b/g/n client devices requiring broad compatibility, and for deployments where the low cost and light weight of the grid design are advantages over separate wireless hardware and antenna solutions.
