MikroTik PowerBox – Outdoor Ethernet Router for SMB and Industrial Network Infrastructure
The MikroTik PowerBox is an outdoor five-port Ethernet router with passive PoE output on four ports, built for pole and tower installations where powering nearby devices — access points, IP cameras, or CPE equipment — eliminates the need for separate power adapters and cable runs. Widely deployed by ISPs as a cost-effective outdoor distribution point, it delivers full RouterOS functionality in a waterproof enclosure designed for permanent exterior mounting.
Ethernet ports 2-5 deliver passive PoE output at the same voltage applied to the input — up to 1A per port and 2A total — powering devices such as the SXT or other passive PoE equipment directly without individual injectors. The QCA9533 CPU at 650 MHz and 64 MB RAM provide stable routing and RouterOS Level 4 functionality for a typical outdoor deployment. Idle power consumption of just 2W without attached devices is particularly relevant for solar-powered or capacity-limited installations.
The waterproof outdoor enclosure supports pole or tower mounting, and the included package — PoE injector, DIN mount, and 24V power adapter — covers a complete installation without additional purchases. Passive cooling and a tested operating range of -40°C to +70°C confirm continuous performance in extreme climatic conditions over the long term. Five shielded Ethernet ports provide additional protection in environments with electrical interference.
It is the right fit for ISPs mounting distribution equipment on poles who need to power access points or CPE devices via passive PoE without separate power sources, for budget outdoor surveillance networks where the router powers cameras directly, and for deployments where installation simplicity and price matter more than port speed.
