MikroTik NetMetal 5SHP triple – Outdoor 5 GHz Wireless Access Point for SMB and Industrial Networks
The MikroTik NetMetal 5SHP triple is an outdoor 802.11ac wireless device with three RF chains, built for AP, backbone, and CPE deployments on the 5 GHz band where maximum transmission power, external antenna flexibility, and mechanical durability are the core requirements. The solid aluminum enclosure with IP54 protection acts as a passive heat sink for the high-power transmitter, maintaining thermal stability without active cooling in extreme outdoor conditions.
The 3x3 triple-chain 802.11ac configuration on the QCA9880 chipset delivers data rates up to 1300 Mbps — 50% more than standard dual-chain AC solutions — relevant for high-capacity wireless backbone or high-density AC client sectors. Three RP-SMA connectors support specialized external antennas for any deployment topology — sectoral, directional, or omnidirectional — without compromising antenna gain. The SFP port with DDMI adds fiber optic uplink capability with real-time optical parameter monitoring directly from RouterOS.
The waterproof metal enclosure opens and closes with one hand — designed for rapid field servicing without additional tools. The Gigabit Ethernet port and SFP port provide two uplink options for flexible integration into existing infrastructure. The USB type A port with power reset supports modem or external storage connectivity. The QCA9557 CPU at 720 MHz and 128 MB RAM handle advanced RouterOS Level 4 configurations for complex routing and wireless scenarios.
It is the right fit for high-capacity wireless backbone where triple-chain AC outperforms dual-chain alternatives, for ISP sectors with high AC client density on 5 GHz, for installations where specialized external antennas are essential for the required coverage pattern, and for deployments where dual uplink — Gigabit Ethernet and SFP fiber — provides redundancy or integration flexibility.
