MikroTik XQ+85MP01D Module – SFP+ / SFP28 for SMB & Enterprise Networks

The MikroTik XQ+85MP01D is a multimode QSFP28 optical module for 40G/100G connections over distances of up to 100 m, designed for high-speed links inside data centers and server rooms where distances between equipment are short and maximum throughput is the primary priority. It is widely used to interconnect core switches, high-performance servers, and storage systems in infrastructures where multimode MTP/MPO cables are already installed. Compatibility with the CCR2216, CRS504, and CRS518 provides direct integration into the MikroTik 100G switching and routing ecosystem.

The module operates across four independent full-duplex channels with up to 25 Gbps per channel and an aggregate bandwidth of 100 Gbps at an 850 nm wavelength, in dual-rate QSFP+ / QSFP28 format for compatibility with both 40G and 100G infrastructures. The 1x12 MTP/MPO connector requires a Female-Female Type-B polarity MTP/MPO-12 optical cable — the standard in data center deployments with structured multimode cabling. Built-in digital diagnostic functions include optical power monitoring for continuous operational visibility into link status.

The XQ+85MP01D inserts directly into QSFP28 ports on compatible MikroTik devices and operates without additional configuration in RouterOS. Dual-rate 40G/100G support allows the same module to be used in mixed infrastructures where equipment from different generations coexists on the same MTP/MPO cable, reducing the number of modules required in progressive migration scenarios from 40G to 100G.

It is recommended for interconnecting core equipment in data centers and server rooms where distances do not exceed 100 m, infrastructures with installed multimode MTP/MPO cabling that needs to be extended to 100G speeds, migration scenarios from 40G to 100G where dual-rate compatibility reduces transition costs, and any deployment requiring 100G aggregate throughput between adjacent nodes in dense data center topologies.
