Hikvision DS-K1107AM Mifare Card Reader — RS-485 and Wiegand

The DS-K1107AM is a Mifare card reader for access control systems, built for commercial and enterprise environments where secure, reliable identification at entry points is a daily operational requirement. It reads Mifare cards at 13.56 MHz in compliance with the ISO 14443-A standard — a more secure credential format than legacy 125 kHz EM technology, making it a practical choice when upgrading existing installations or deploying new access control infrastructure.

A 32-bit processor ensures immediate card recognition without perceptible delay at high-traffic entry points. The reader supports three communication protocols — RS-485, Wiegand W26/W34 and OSDP — switchable via DIP switch on the board. This flexibility enables integration with Hikvision DS-K2800 series controllers as well as third-party systems, reducing the need to replace controllers when upgrading readers across a mixed-brand installation.

The IP65-rated enclosure makes the DS-K1107AM suitable for outdoor deployment: main building entrances, parking gates, and exposed locations subject to moisture or dust. A tamper alarm signals unauthorized removal attempts, while the built-in buzzer provides audible confirmation of successful card reads — useful in high-flow environments where visual feedback alone is insufficient.

Practical use cases include: pairing with a DS-K2804 controller at a four-door office installation; replacing EM readers with Mifare without changing the controller; mounting at outdoor entrances or vehicle access gates; integrating into a mixed-brand access control system via Wiegand; and upgrading credential security in residential complexes or commercial buildings.

Firmware updates are performed online. The watchdog function provides automatic self-recovery in the event of a system fault, minimizing on-site maintenance and ensuring uninterrupted access point availability.
