GPEN21 Smart Power – Intelligent Power Supply for SMB & Industrial Networks

The MikroTik GPEN21 is a managed PoE injector that doubles as a software-controlled repeater, bringing network intelligence to edge access points where passive injectors fall short. Designed for ISP deployments, FWA installations, and outdoor network nodes, it combines PoE power delivery with real management capabilities including VLAN support, SNMP reporting, and link fault detection. It is commonly deployed as a smart PoE injector for outdoor CPE, a managed uplink node in subscriber access networks, or a fiber-ready edge device with software control.

Running SwitchOS Lite on the 88E6341 switch chip, the GPEN21 draws only 3W at idle, making it suitable for always-on installations. The Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE-out delivers passive PoE up to 57V — 850mA at low voltage and 625mA at high voltage — enough to power most outdoor routers and radio units directly. The SFP port enables fiber uplink to the provider, while 802.3af/at input support means the unit itself can be powered from an existing switch, eliminating the need for a separate PSU at the installation point.

GPEN21 integrates seamlessly into MikroTik access network deployments alongside GPeR and netPower products, replacing a dumb injector with an active, manageable node. VLAN segmentation allows traffic isolation on the same physical uplink, basic traffic shaping controls bandwidth at the port level, and GPEN link fault detection reduces reaction time when physical access is limited. SNMP reporting feeds into centralized monitoring systems. The unit can be wall-mounted or rack-mounted in a communications enclosure, with flexible cable routing options through the bottom or into the wall.
