MikroTik FTC21 — Industrial Fiber-to-Copper Converter with IP55 Protection
MikroTik FTC21 is an IP55 weatherproof Fiber-to-Copper converter with advanced management, designed for fiber-to-copper conversions in outdoor installations and technical environments where a simple unmanaged media converter is not sufficient. It is deployed by ISPs, integrators, and network operators deploying fiber optic conversions at network points exposed to weather conditions, where traffic visibility, VLAN support, and advanced ACL filtering are required without an additional switch. A consumption of just 3W idle and a compact form factor make it the cost-effective solution for outdoor distribution points with limited power resources.
FTC21 features one SFP port with 2.5G support for the fiber connection and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports for local equipment distribution, covering standard conversions in access and distribution networks. The 88E6341 switch chip provides stable processing for management and advanced filtering. Power input is flexible — PoE-in 802.3af/at or DC jack, both accepting 24–57V — and maximum consumption of 4W at full load maintains energy efficiency in any configuration. Passive cooling eliminates moving mechanical components, contributing to long-term reliability without active maintenance.
FTC21 runs SwOS Lite with full management functionality: interface monitoring and management, VLAN support, SNMP reporting, basic traffic shaping, and advanced filtering via ACLs based on Layer 2, 3, and 4 protocol header conditions — including packet filtering, accounting, and VLAN tagging. The IP55 enclosure provides protection against dust and water jets from any direction for permanent outdoor installations. The operating range from -40°C to +70°C guarantees reliability in extreme climatic conditions, and the included kit — 48V adapter, PoE injector, and ceiling mount and fastening set — enables immediate installation without additional accessories.
Recommended for ISPs and integrators deploying managed fiber-to-copper conversions at outdoor distribution points, installations where Layer 2–4 ACL filtering and VLAN support are required without a dedicated switch, and any outdoor network node where a simple unmanaged converter does not provide the necessary visibility and control. Also suited as a replacement for unmanaged media converters in existing infrastructures where traffic monitoring and isolation are operational priorities.
