MikroTik hEX Router for SOHO and Small Office Networks
MikroTik hEX is a five-port Gigabit Ethernet router for locations where wireless connectivity is not required, designed for users who need full RouterOS functionality in a compact and affordable form factor. It is deployed in small offices, homes, and network infrastructures where advanced routing, VPN, firewall, and complete traffic control are priorities without the need for an integrated WiFi access point. It combines an accessible price with the performance of a dual-core 880 MHz processor and RouterOS Level 4 functionality without compromises.
hEX features 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, a dual-core MT7621A processor at 880 MHz with 4 threads, and 256 MB RAM — sufficient processing power for advanced RouterOS configurations, including IPsec hardware encryption, multiple VPNs, complex firewall rules, and dynamic routing. The USB type A port allows connecting external storage or an LTE modem for internet backup, while the microSD slot provides improved read/write speed for file storage and running The Dude server directly on the router. DC jack 8–30V or passive PoE 8–30V power input ensures installation flexibility, and a consumption of just 5W without load keeps energy costs minimal.
The compact 113×89×28 mm enclosure with passive cooling ensures silent operation without active maintenance. The integrated beeper and mode button complement configuration and diagnostics options. The operating range from -40°C to +60°C covers conditions in most installation environments. RouterOS (License Level 4) provides VPN, firewall, VLAN, advanced routing, QoS, CAPsMAN, and full enterprise functionality with no subscriptions or recurring costs, with free updates for the life of the product or a minimum of 5 years.
Recommended for small offices and home offices requiring a high-performance Gigabit router without WiFi at an accessible price, networks where RouterOS with IPsec hardware encryption and The Dude server are needed on compact hardware, and any deployment where 5 Gigabit ports with full RouterOS Level 4 functionality are sufficient without the complexity of a larger switch or router. Also suited as a perimeter router for small networks and as a centralized management device via The Dude for distributed infrastructures.
