MikroTik CRS310-1G-5S-4S+IN Switch – Enterprise & SMB-Advanced Networks
The MikroTik CRS310-1G-5S-4S+OUT, also known as netFiber 9, is an outdoor fibre switch with five 1G SFP ports, four 10G SFP+ ports, and a Gigabit Ethernet port, designed for small and medium ISPs building optical distribution networks in exposed environments. IP54 protection, passive cooling through a rear heatsink, and a rugged enclosure make it suitable for pole, wall, or outdoor cabinet mounting with light overhead cover. It is widely deployed as an outdoor 10G fibre aggregation switch for ISP access networks, a pole-mounted distribution node, and an optical alternative to copper for runs exceeding 100 metres where electromagnetic interference or physical security are concerns.
The ARM 32bit 98DX226S processor at 800 MHz pairs with the Marvell 98DX226S switch chip to deliver non-blocking Layer 2 throughput of up to 46 Gbps aggregate, with stable performance under bridging and routing workloads with active filter rules. The 256 MB RAM provides sufficient headroom for extended routing tables and dense VLAN segmentation. The Gigabit Ethernet port connects directly to the switch chip for full line-rate throughput and supports 802.3af/at PoE-in for power delivery where a DC jack is impractical. The rear heatsink shifts the center of gravity laterally, stabilizing the unit in any mounting orientation. Metal hose clamps and screws are included for immediate pole or wall attachment without additional hardware.
The device runs RouterOS v7 with License 5, providing full access to switching, VLAN, Layer 3 routing, and remote management features. Hardware offloaded VLAN filtering and L3 routing reduce CPU load in densely segmented networks. The RJ45 serial console enables local access for field configuration and diagnostics. Power is supplied via DC jack 18–57V or 802.3af/at PoE-in; the package includes a 48V power adapter and a Gigabit PoE injector.
The CRS310-1G-5S-4S+OUT is the right choice for ISPs expanding fibre distribution networks on poles and outdoor infrastructure, for administrators replacing copper with optical fibre on runs affected by electromagnetic interference or interception risk, for 10G aggregation nodes in outdoor enclosures or sheltered mounting points, and for any deployment where a high-performance fibre switch must operate permanently outdoors without active cooling or available rack space.
