MikroTik KNOT LR8G kit — Industrial IoT Gateway LoRa® 868 MHz with GPS and LTE CAT-M

Remote monitoring and asset tracking projects across industrial sites often call for an IoT gateway that brings several connectivity technologies together in one compact device, and that's exactly the role the KNOT LR8G kit from MikroTik fills. It's commonly deployed in LoRa®-based networks to collect data from distributed sensors across warehouses, industrial facilities, farms, or vehicle fleets, where fixed network infrastructure is limited or costly to run. The gateway brings together LoRa, LTE CAT-M/NB-IoT, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth in a single compact solution built for asset tracking and industrial telemetry projects.

Concurrent GPS and LTE CAT-M connectivity allows real-time tracking of moving assets such as service vehicles, containers, or mobile equipment without losing network contact. Improved 868 MHz LoRa® reception delivers extended range and stability even in interference-heavy environments, useful for sensors placed far from the gateway. The built-in Bluetooth 5.2 module simplifies connecting tags and beacons for automatic equipment identification, while PoE-in, DC jack, or MicroUSB powering options offer real flexibility during installation, including the ability to power other devices through the PoE-out port.

Integration with wired industrial sensors runs through the RS485/Modbus serial port, converting data into modern network protocols such as MQTT or HTTPS. The two Ethernet ports and the SIM card slot provide redundant connectivity, through both wired networks and LTE CAT-M/NB-IoT, for situations where a connection needs to stay up at all times. The gateway runs RouterOS v7, offering advanced controls, scripting, and centralized management across distributed deployments, while the included wall or DIN rail mounting simplifies installation inside industrial cabinets or technical rooms.

It's well suited for tracking medical equipment in hospitals, monitoring cold chain conditions for temperature-sensitive goods, collecting field data in agricultural projects, and automating industrial processes through GPIO monitoring and wired sensors. An operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C allows installation outdoors or in unheated spaces, and the gateway can be integrated into smart city projects as well as private sensor networks for utility or logistics companies.
