MikroTik hEX S (2025) – Gigabit Router with 2.5G SFP for SOHO and SMB

Small offices, branch locations, and network labs still rely on stable wired connectivity as the backbone of their IT setup. The MikroTik hEX S is a wired router built for these environments, featuring a 2.5G SFP port and five Gigabit Ethernet ports with bonding support. It's commonly deployed as the main router for SOHO networks, as a high-speed uplink to a local NAS or server, or as a central PoE power point for cameras and networking gear.

The dual-core ARM processor paired with 512 MB of RAM keeps performance steady even under simultaneous traffic from multiple connected devices. Five Gigabit Ethernet ports with bonding support allow traffic aggregation for fast transfers between workstations and storage systems. The 2.5G SFP port takes full advantage of faster fiber connections, while PoE input and output simplify equipment installation without extra power cabling. A USB 3.0 port adds the option to connect storage for file sharing directly through the router.

The hEX S fits flexibly into existing networks, with each port configurable as WAN, LAN, or bridge without factory restrictions. RouterOS v7 provides advanced routing, VLANs, traffic shaping, and VPN support, useful for centralized administration across distributed networks. A wide power input range of 12–57V and wall-mount compatibility make installation easier in locations with different physical or electrical constraints.
