MikroTik wAP LR9 Kit IoT Gateway – Industrial Connectivity for IoT Networks
The MikroTik wAP LR9 kit is an outdoor LoRa® gateway for IoT networks operating in the 902-928 MHz band, designed for outdoor deployments, remote monitoring, and wireless connectivity in areas without fixed infrastructure. It is widely used in agricultural projects, asset tracking systems, distributed sensor networks, and smart city applications across regions operating on the 915 MHz frequency — including the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and much of Asia. Its weatherproof enclosure and compact form factor make it suitable for outdoor mounting in demanding environmental conditions.
The gateway features the LoRa® R11e-LR9 module in a MiniPCI-e slot and a QCA9531 processor at 650 MHz with 64 MB RAM, delivering stable performance for LoRa® packet routing and forwarding. Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n) dual-chain on 2.4 GHz enables use as a wireless access point or local management channel, while the 10/100 Ethernet port with passive PoE provides backend connectivity and power delivery without additional cabling. An internal 2 dBi antenna is included, with external antenna support via a dedicated connector — extendable with the MikroTik Antenna kit for LoRa® for greater coverage range.
The wAP LR9 kit operates as a primary LoRa® gateway with Ethernet or Wi-Fi backhaul, compatible with any public or private LoRa® server through a pre-installed UDP packet forwarder — including The Things Network and ChirpStack. Managed via RouterOS (License Level 4), it provides routing, traffic filtering, and remote administration capabilities. The MiniPCI-e slot allows the LoRa® module to be replaced with an LTE modem for cellular backhaul scenarios where wired connectivity is unavailable.
It is recommended for agricultural sensor networks in remote fields, urban infrastructure and utility monitoring, asset tracking in logistics and transportation, and industrial IoT deployments in areas without fiber access. FCC and IC certifications confirm suitability for North American markets, while IP54 protection and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +60°C ensure reliable operation across varying weather conditions — from fixed pole-mounted installations to vehicle and mobile equipment deployments.
